Security Engineer Specialist

Job Overview:
We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Security Engineer Specialist to join our growing IT team. In this role, you will assist in protecting the organization’s infrastructure from cyber threats by monitoring network traffic, EDR/XDR/Agent health, incident response and supporting the implementation of security measures and best practices. Key Responsibilities:


Monitor Network Traffic: Regularly monitor network traffic for unusual activity, potential threats, and security breaches using various network security tools and systems.
Incident Response: Assist in the detection, analysis, and response to security incidents and breaches, following established procedures to mitigate impact.
Implement Security Measures: Assist in the implementation of security protocols, firewalls, encryption, and other measures to safeguard the organization’s network infrastructure.
Maintain Security Tools: Support the configuration, maintenance, and monitoring of security tools such as firewalls, intrusion detection/prevention systems (IDS/IPS), EDR/XDR, Log collection agents, Application security, Email Security, Encryption technologies, PAM/IAM, and Data Security
Documentation: Document MOP, changes in network configurations, and maintain accurate records of security activities.
Innovation: Keep up-to-date with the latest security trends, vulnerabilities, and technology advancements through continuous learning and industry certifications.
Technical support :
Provide technical support, including monitoring, reporting, and tool administration.
Troubleshoot issues and handle escalations.
Perform trend analysis to identify recurring issues and engineer solutions.
Service Delivery:
Collaborate with cross-functional teams to define and deliver endpoint security services.
Ensure timely deployment, configuration, and maintenance of endpoint security tools.
Monitor service performance and address any issues promptly.
 
Qualifications:


Education: Bachelor’s degree in information technology, Computer Science, or a related field.
Technical Skills:
Basic understanding of networking concepts (e.g., TCP/IP(preferred knowledge in Subnetting and OSI Layer), DNS, DHCP), operating systems (Windows, Linux)
Common security tools (e.g., firewalls, VPN, IDS/IPS, URL filtering, Gateway AV, Anti-bot, DLP, and EDR/XDR).
Operating system fundamentals (e.g. Windows, Windows Server, Linux, MacOS)
Analytical Skills: Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities with a keen attention to detail.
Communication: Effective verbal and written communication skills to interact with technical and non-technical stakeholders.
Teamwork: Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment and leadership skills.
Initiative:
Eagerness to learn and proactively seek opportunities to improve security practices within the organization.
Strong understanding of cybersecurity principles and best practices.
Strong understanding of computer networking fundamentals and best practices.
Work experience: 1 to 3 years work experience
Certifications(optional): CompTIA Network+/CCT/CCNA, CompTIA Security+ or any firewall related certification are a plus.
